The Concessions

Estreux Safaris are different in the sense that we do not believe in the general trend of commercialization, and only offer high-quality trophy hunting, where we focus on old mature trophies and not quantity.

Your Namibian safari will include plains, and in some cases dangerous game, or even both perhaps. Currently Estreux Safaris have hunting concessions in the north central and north eastern parts of Namibia. Your trophy list of preferred animals will determine the choice of hunting area/s.  Whatever you as our valued client decide, we will assist you in finding the right/or best combination of hunting days and hunting area/s as to experience your ultimate African Safari and ensure that you are successful with your hunt. We hunt different concessions due to limited quotas available and/or for sustainability purposes; as we are committed to the long-term sustainability of our game and to ensure the best possible trophy quality.

Estreux Safaris guarantees exclusivity in all their concessions, with you and your hunting party having the entire concession to yourselves. We only take one group at a time. Most concessions can either be reached by vehicle on very good tarred and gravel roads and by private air charter.

FAQ

What rifle should I bring?

Most of the shooting in Namibia is done under 200 yards with shots of between 100 - 160 yards the norm. In the Zambezi Region shots on elephants are less than 25 yards and on buffalo between 20-80 yards. Shooting conditions in our concessions vary from thick bush to partially open savannah, floodplains and granite mountain slopes.

Personally, I regard the .270, with premium grade 140gr expansion bullets the bare minimum for most of the smaller plains game species.
Rifles in the range of the .308, 30-06, .300 with 180gr bullets and upwards would be more ideal for most plains game species in Namibia. Hunting Eland and Giraffe requires more gun and the various .300’s and Magnum calibers are more suitable. In our dangerous game concessions, the minimum caliber allowed is .375. I personally recommend the various .400 calibers with a premium 400 grain bullet as the minimum.

What are the shooting conditions like?

When out stalking, shots are mostly taken from field positions or the new Viper-Flex shooting sticks from Denmark. Practice these positions as much as possible before your upcoming Safari. Also make sure that you are reasonably fit as it will improve your shooting ability.

What clothes should I bring?

Do not make the mistake to think that African countries in winter cannot get cold. It is a mistake that most hunters made, making for an uncomfortable hunt. During our winter months (May – August) the days are normally around 60ºF - 68ºF (15°C - 20°C). The evenings can range from being cool to well below 32ºF (0°C).

The mornings on the open hunting vehicles are usually cold and a jacket with a wool stocking cap (beanie) and woollen gloves are recommended. Wearing different layers of clothing helps and can be taken off as the day heats up. Long sleeve shirts where you can roll up the sleeves are a great way to go.

Summer months are hot with temperatures reaching 95ºF (35°C). Rain can be expected from February till April and a light rain coat as well as a rain protector for your rifle is a must.

Laundry is done regularly, except for Sundays, therefore it is not necessary to over pack.
